We’ve introduced Uber Direct delivery, providing merchants with a reliable and flexible delivery option for eligible Online Ordering orders. This enhancement allows customers to receive their orders through Uber’s courier network while providing greater visibility of the delivery journey through live tracking and delivery ETA updates.
-When a customer enters their delivery address during checkout, Grafterr automatically checks whether the address is within the Uber Direct delivery range and retrieves a live delivery quote. For addresses within 5 miles, the order is automatically booked with an Uber courier. Customers can then view the estimated delivery time, courier details, and live tracking information, providing greater transparency from order acceptance through to delivery.
-If the customer's address is outside the 5-mile Uber Direct delivery range but is still within the restaurant's own delivery zone, the order automatically falls back to the restaurant's in-house delivery service. This ensures that eligible customers can continue to receive deliveries without requiring the restaurant to manually manage the delivery method.
-If the delivery address falls outside both the Uber Direct range and the restaurant's delivery zone, the customer is shown an out-of-delivery-area message during checkout, preventing orders from being placed where delivery is not available.
This release provides merchants with a more flexible delivery solution while giving customers a smoother and more transparent ordering experience. By combining live delivery quotes, automated delivery assignment, courier tracking, and automatic fallback to in-house delivery, Uber Direct helps simplify delivery management and improve the overall Online Ordering experience.
